The project involved the renovation of a single-family house, part of the urban fabric along Via Savonarola. Originally built in the early 20th century to house railway workers' families, the building is classified under a protection grade as specified in the Municipal urban guidelines. Any transformation of the property requires preserving its original form and distinctive features.

The apartment occupies the first and second floors of a house that has stood for over a century on the hill overlooking the Val Squaranto, east of Verona. This house is located on the slope of the hill, at the highest point of the inhabited center, and once housed the village bar, which, precisely because of its location at the top of a long and steep ascent, was called “La Alpina.” Despite its advantageous location, the apartment initially failed to capitalize on the breathtaking 180-degree vista of the valley. The original layout prioritized utility rooms, stairs, and corridors along the main facade relegating the primary living areas to the interior, far removed from the captivating views and natural light.

In line with the philosophy of the start-up, which focuses on investment in business development and human resources, the design choices were focused on precise operations that had a low implementation cost, without sacrificing the quality of the new workspace.

In our design project, to recover a space or a building always means to find in the preexisting structure the prompts for a new beginning. It is not an easy task. You need to look beyond appearances. You need to inspect and remove layers. Sometimes, you need to do that physically. This was the case for the restoration of the Verona Penthouse in the old town center of Verona.

At international stone exhibition Marmomac 2017, Chinese firm OPEN Architecture has created a transient installation titled "The Eternal & The Ephemeral" that allows visitors to transform a cube of stone tiles into new, unplanned forms. The project responds directly to the theme of the event, "Soul of City," which asked designers from across the globe to collaborate with Italian stone manufacturers to create pieces built entirely from stone. OPEN's concept focused on the relationship between transience and heaviness in the material, prompting the installation to gradually "disappear" over the 4-day event.

Filippo Bricolo’s project (Bricolo Falsarella Associates) for the Castelvecchio Museum regards the restoral of the central part of the East Wing which was left unfinished by Carlo Scarpa’s masterful restoration in 1964. The fulcrum of the intervention is the new Mosaic Room designed to host a large fragment of Roman pavement from a second century AD domus which was discovered in the little square located on the east side of the castle between the ancient Via Postumia and the River Adige.
