Floating above the Park: A Stage-Like Campus Where Students Play the Leading Roles - The project involves the construction of a new campus for Tokyo International University on the site of the former Tokyo Mint Bureau in Toshima Ward. The project site is situated in Ikebukuro, known as Theater City, which has a vision of becoming an international art and culture city. It is located on the boundary between the city center, including Sunshine City, and the low-rise residential area to the south. With the idea of preserving the academic ambiance unique to the university campus and bringing in the lush, open atmosphere of the adjacent disaster prevention park (IKE·SUNPARK), we created a campus featuring a stage-like design with the second floor as the students' base.

“Kusunoki-so" is a community space located in Tokyo that has been renovated from an old warehouse. This is a plan to build a new small cafe space on its first floor. Next to Kusunoki-so, there is a park, so we aimed to create a cafe that is open and easy for anyone to stop by like a "park shop".

Tea Shop Parvati / Keisuke Hatakenaka Architects Studio

A specialized shop selling and serving Darjeeling tea close to Senkawa station in Toshima-ku Tokyo. The shop consists of 3 separate areas, a seating area, kitchen, and storage to store tea leaves at a constant temperature. The shop is located at a corner of a residential area and in order to meet the owner’s request to build a store where customers can drop in casually, one corner of the shop is built with an open counter and another corner is fully opened to the street.

Concept - This house was completed from the idea that "a house that lives with human should be honest." We think that "honest architecture" is an architecture that makes it easy for its residents to feel the quality of the architecture in addition to the surrounding environment, global environment, seasons, and time. Of course, from the row of cherry blossom trees that can be seen from the window, we aimed to create a space where you can feel the time and seasons depending on how the sun shines into the building, the sense of touch, the temperature of the wall.

How much can you let the nature of the city flow in - The idea of designing architecture like a natural environment has not changed since I have founded my own office but recently its way of thinking has changed a bit. Even though the soft form and the space containing the difference have the certain possibility, it seems that "naturalness" is considered as the degree of influx of things that cannot be controlled completely by others.
