From this landscaping element, both the placement and architectural design of the house are structured, aiming to establish a direct and constant relationship with this green element.

The latest guesthouse from Danish brand Vipp, the ground-up design is rooted in its desert location and unique topography, blending seamlessly into the landscape. PPAA has created a dynamic interplay of strategically-placed volumes and stepped exterior stairways which thoughtfully respond to the contours of the site. The resulting structure pays tribute to the region as well as its culture of in / outdoor living. The five bedroom property is comprised of a main house, two connected guest houses, a covered patio, a rooftop pool and terraces.

How might desert tourism foster the sustainable development of territory to champion environmental health and the well-being of local communities? In a region where the corrosion of culture and tradition is being accelerated by rapid development, El Perdido embraces Baja California Sur's historical roots and material culture, providing a glimpse into the past while suggesting a potential design language for the future. In order to dissipate established hierarchies, traditional building techniques have been embraced in novel applications and recast to foster new behaviors.

In this project, we aimed to emphasize the dynamism of the natural motion of the desert by exploring and highlighting the topography created by its winds, the elements that make it a gift to the senses, its natural form of creating paths and spaces that appear and disappear as in a landscape of surprises, and we did this by keeping true to its nature and cycles. The desert is a land of constant change. Winds and seasons shape and reshape it, transforming its undulations, its reliefs, its fissures, its entire appearance with a single sweep of the wind. In order to emphasize its motion, we worked on a design inspired by these winds. We worked without hard lines, imagining each and every contour of its topography as if shaped by desert gusts rather than pen on paper.
