Germina Foundation is an organization that works with children and young people at risk of social exclusion, caring for them, monitoring and reinforcing their education, and providing educational support for their training and future entry into the labor market. This monitoring process, which aims to build a bond by engaging participants through complementary programs from the moment they arrive as young children up until their entry into the workforce, needed to have a space where it could accommodate its three key age groups in three areas that could be either connected or independent. The program for the building also had to house the organization's administrative staff. Improving the neighborhood's social fabric, community action, and collaboration with local organizations through workshops, courses, and other social activities are also among the foundation's aims.

First talks of teachers to their disciples were made under the shelter of a tree. Thus, the tree was the first school, the first classroom. The project consists of the design and construction of a prototype module for environmental education classrooms, a learning and discovery space, to be installed in different locations of the metropolitan area of Barcelona park’s network. It is proposed that it is also a habitat for some species of animals, insects, invertebrates, birds... It must be an open space to the outside; it is necessary that one could see the trees from the classroom, to perceive the light and feel the climate.

Comprehensive intervention on the top floor of a disused market, to convert it into a new cultural center for the neighbourhood (library, bar and cinema). Transformation of a massive VOLUME, closed and geometrically confused, in an open space, diaphanous and representative. From the obligatory response to site constraints (existing structure, easements for the facilities, low ceiling ...) is designed a light building, without closures, without interior walls, simply a part of PUBLIC SPACE conveniently bounded, climatized and equipped.

The site is located between two areas with very different morphologies due to the uncontrolled expansion of the city. To one side is the old town, a consolidated front of constant heights—the centre of development in the sixties—that acted as a barrier to later urban growth and, on the other, the Singuerlin neighbourhood, a disordered, irregular area of growth on a steeply sloping site. The completion of the B-20 expressway and the construction of Europa Park in the nineties united the two areas without addressing the Singuerlin neighbourhood.
