The city of Saint-Dizier is one of 222 cities committed to the “Action Cœur de Ville” national plan that seeks to improve the life condition of the inhabitants of medium-sized towns and to ensure the lead role of these towns in the territory development. At Saint-Dizier the city center was progressively devitalized and the peripheral activities zones prospered. The market project represents an essential element to the revitalization strategy of the city’s heart aiming to recreate a local economy based on local commerce and artisan work.

Sitting at the edge of an industrial zone, Saint-Dizier’s new arts centre occupies a complex site close to a roundabout fed by several busy roads. Despite slotting discreetly into a generally undistinguished environment, the building serves as a notable defining element marking the town’s threshold.

The project of the Nurses training Institute (IFSI) is located on the Saint-Dizier Hospital Center site. The massing of this university building is simple, rational and sequential, there are 2 levels combining 2 volumes. The first one, on the ground floor, is clad with perforated panels for shading. The forecourt is protected by an awning made of the floor cantilever. Inside, the entry lock opens on the vast crossing hall, developed as an interior street under the glass roof.
