Atal Sarovar—a rejuvenated urban lake named after India's former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee—is a flagship project within Rajkot's Smart City initiative. Situated within a 930-acre greenfield precinct, the project transforms a low-lying natural depression into a multifunctional urban waterbody that integrates stormwater management, ecological regeneration, and vibrant public spaces. Conceived through the principles of water-sensitive urbanism, it repositions urban hydrology as a driver of sustainable design and inclusive city-making.

'Plot 33' is an honest study about how to achieve a balance between inside-outside, work-life, privacy-openness, reused-new materials, adaptability-single use, etc. This project is also an attempt to amalgamate the aspirations of an Architect duo coming from diverse backgrounds – South Asia (India) and Southern Europe (Spain) – in the rapidly growing city of Rajkot, India. The site is located in a tight urban residential neighborhood adjacent to the region's university campus. It is a 10 x 24 meters parcel of land, with the northern short side facing the road that leads to the university. On the opposite side of the plot, across the road, there is a small public park with large sheltering trees.

Raga Svara, as in the words of its founders, focuses on the therapeutic, aesthetic, philosophical, and ecological well-being of oneself in conjunction with the surroundings. Raga’s logo “Pause” indicates all those who enter this green haven consciously pause in time, reflect, listen to the body in synergy with nature, and get rejuvenated in an educational way. With such a clear vision for Raga, the onus on the architects was to make minimal interventions in the existing landscape and have nature take precedence.

St. Mary’s School is one of the important educational institutions of Rajkot with a rich history spanning 60+ years. The school enjoys the luxury of an open ground of 19000 SQM dedicated purely to the students’ recreational activities. The location for their new basketball court was selected close to the already existing one so that simultaneous training sessions can be carried out. This location is at the southeast corner of the School’s open ground, with a line of lush trees dotting the eastern edge. The site opens to the vast ground on the western edge while the existing basketball court is on the northern edge.

The pavilion had to be quickly assembled for a limited period of time, till the proposed development gets completely built.

The flying walls hostel project was commissioned to us by a company intending to provide their workers with a living space that promotes community living and wellbeing. The site is located on the outskirts of the city of Rajkot in a developing area with educational, industrial and hospitality buildings coming up. Despite the development, the site's location provides unending views of the agricultural, grazing lands and the horizon.

The Northstar Nest / Shanmugam Associates

Northstar Nest is a kindergarten campus located in Rajkot, Gujarat. This rectangular site of 8000 sqft has the Stilt +3 floor building oriented in the east – west direction. The play area and garden are located on the west side of the plot demarcated for open space reserve and the building is located on the east. All amenities were housed within the limited area available with three classrooms on every floor. A trompe l’ oeil has been tried out with the overall massing to make this Stilt+ 3 floors look bigger than it is. Horizontal ribs/fins run across the entire periphery acting like a brise-soleil, reducing heat generated on the walls.

The client’s initial brief was that, a very important part of every child's experience in Northstar be shaped by architecture. The project sits on the south eastern corner of a 17.8-acre barren site located adjoining the RK University campus on Rajkot- Bhavnagar highway.

Commercial buildings hold major importance in the urban fabric of the rapidly developing areas of Rajkot. The brief called for a design of a sales pavilion for 'The Spire 2' commercial development at the ring road of the city. The simplicity of the brief and the context provided for various interpretations and explorations. The pavilion had to be quickly assembled for a short amount of time until the proposed commercial development is completely built. The program comprised of basic needs which included a meeting room, site engineer’s office, reception area, a pantry, and a restroom.

Located on the main street of Rajkot city, the site with a built area of 152 SQ.M spanning over two floors was provided to design a mobile retail store. The store was conceptualized to accentuate the retails, by depicting the importance of connectivity, while possessing an essence of tradition. Connection and intimacy is reflected through a soft transition in varying brick technology and a warm earthy colour palette.
