La Ladera House / Estudio Diagonal

Ladera House is located on a steep hillside facing Lake Puyehue in southern Chile, nestled within a rainforest of native hualle trees. We chose to approach the terrain not as an obstacle to overcome, but as the very condition that structures the project. The slope defines the volumetric strategy, the support system, and the programmatic organization.

The site is laid out along the shore of Lake Rupanco, on a southern facing slope, within a forest of Olivillo, Tepa and Coigue. Given the value of the tree species, the project is developed on the basis of integrating the required spaces within the layout of the existing trees.

The house is located on the edge of lake Rupanco, in the south of Chile. The 160 x 30 meters site has a 36 meters slope and south-facing views of the lake.
