Buried House is one of the several seasonal vacation homes Kallos Turin designed on the Villalagos Estate on the coast of Uruguay near Punta del Este. The firm approached the design of Buried House with the idea that the home should be simple in its massing and detailing, consistent in its use of materials, and carefully placed on the land to preserve the site’s integrity and avoid the impression of a conventional house dropped into an otherwise pristine hillside.

The main idea begins with the client’s initiative to live immersed in the forest, always in direct contact with the surroundings. The first approach was based on mid-century houses, this was an important starting point for the main concept of the house, trying to reinterpret single-family houses.

In a void area of a consolidated neighborhood, the owners of this land, cautiously begin to form this garden isolated from the surroundings and full of vegetation, directly connected with de center of the block. Particularly, the land was full of lavender from the beginning and consequently, the main idea was to maintain the land as it was.

In times of pandemic, Ana, a botany-enthusiast specialised in orchids, turns her hobby into a venture: Greenhouse Orchid, and entrusts us with designing a greenhouse that also acts as an exhibition space. The proposal is a transparent, transportable, modifiable prototype that generates the necessary climate for the survival of the orchids. Two greenhouses are manufactured, one for exhibition and the other for flowering.

Las Piedras Fasano is a hospitality complex in Punta del Este, Uruguay. It combines private homes, hotel bungalows and other amenities - spa, equestrian center, golf and polo fields and a 3-km beach stretch on the riverside of Arroyo Maldonado -, spreading across vast 480 hectares dominated by a dramatic and dazzling landscape: arid, rocky, with sparse low vegetation.

The Punta House is located on an open lot, alongside a reservoir, in the countryside close to the city of Punta Del Leste, in Uruguay. From the get-go, the location of the residence on this open country wasteland imposed the challenge of creating private spaces and, to some degree, protected visually and climactically. The solution adopted, from the outset, was a one-level house which, on one side looked out to the waters of the reservoir; and, on the other, to an internal patio demarcated by stone walls, which end up defining all of the spaces of the house.
