Loma House is located in Costa Esmeralda, a private development on the dunes of the Buenos Aires coast, 390 km from Buenos Aires and only 13 km north of Pinamar. It is an urban complex of great landscape value in which native pastures coexist with a young forestation of acacias and maritime pines and preserves some sectors of the consolidated forest.

The project involves designing and constructing a house on the Argentine coast, specifically on a plot with a very particular topography. This terrain features a sand dune, a natural accumulation of sand common in coastal areas. Instead of viewing this dune as an obstacle, the project was based on harnessing this unique feature of the land to our advantage.

Fragata House was designed in 2017 and built between that year and 2021 in the Alamos neighborhood, northwest Pinamar. During the pandemic, the house was the only one on the block in a neighborhood that was developing at a lethargic pace but which was shortly surrounded by several works -some even inhabited before Fragata House. This area continues to date to be the fastest-growing sector of the city, creating a constantly changing urban landscape.

Part of the air.
From the outside, CMMY stands as a rigid single volume with recesses and folds. On the inside, however, the typology is completely decomposed to generate spaces which articulate through the air; it is precisely this vacuum (the air) the one in charge of linking the living spaces. The air in CMMY House envelops it at the time that it is the essence and the principle of its uniqueness.

General context. There is a ground located in the city of Pinamar, in an area very close to the sea, and with the characteristic of having a side slope of almost five meters. The neighborhood where the house will be located is well established, with paved streets. Client. Given the unbeatable condition of the land, they would like to have a home with direct views of the sea. It also emphasizes safety as a crucial condition.

A flat lot located in a gated community in Pinamar opens as a fan from east to west, from the front –street- to the rear façade. Some young pines act as a gentle filter between the lot, the neighbors and the fields of General Madariaga –at the other side of Provincial Route 11. These comprised the first project data for a vacation home which would offer ample spaces to gather and converse bearing in mind that, on vacations, spaces are used more placidly, the senses are awake and the contemplation of the surroundings becomes a rewarding experience.
