2k architecte presents Oiseau Lyre, a school with Nordic inspiration in Noisy-le-Grand, France. Anchored on a plot with 8 meters of elevation, the school faces North towards the Marne and explores a new pedagogical model of Finnish inspiration, offering a diversity of shared spaces. The compact building of 50mx100m is set on 4 levels, maintaining a low height profile in relation to neighboring pavilions. Like a Palladian villa, functions are embedded in the core of the building, in an area filled with natural light and the social vibrancy of the school.

“Designed to eventually accommodate more than 1200 students, the new International High School to the east of Paris is deeply rooted in the Grand Paris (Greater Paris) project : to rebalance the city to the east as well as its insertion, at several scales, within the vast landscape at the edge of the Marne-la-Vallée plateau, overlooking the Marne River and the capital - both poised and raised on the city horizon.

This development takes its inspiration from the indented nature of the building and the zigzag lines drawn throughout the different renovated sections. The lines and facets theme is continued on the floor, the walls, in ceilings and in the furnishings, thus creating a thread of continuity throughout the project. The furnishings, entirely in Corian®, consist of fragmented structures which extend into the floor with the use of resin surfaces.
