Omura Children's Clinic / Design Associates Nakamura

We designed a clinic that resembles a house, featuring a series of small gabled roofs scaled to children's proportions. Since both children and their parents visit the clinic, we wanted to create a space considerate of both.

FK Kindergarten and Nursery / HIBINOSEKKEI + Youji no Shiro + Kids Design Labo

This kindergarten is in the northern part of Japan, namely Fukahori Town of Nagasaki prefecture, a coastal town with a long history of fishing and shipbuilding. Its trace of history still lingers in the streets. The region is full of slopes, and houses are built tightly along roads. These attributes shape the quaint atmosphere of the narrow alleyways. This project intends to bring the way Fukahori has co-existed with the land into the daily lives of children.

Office in Shimabara / Design Associates Nakamura

The site overlooks Shimabara Port and Mt. Unzen, so we planned an office where people can work while enjoying the view. By slanting the exterior wall, we planned to block the view from the street while at the same time securing the view.

The site is located in the area where rias coastline followed. Calm sea spread to the south, and there is a mountain that can feel the power of nature. You can feel the earth, building of the kindergarten that opens to the sea.

This is a daycare project in Nagasaki, Japan. Recently, it is a big concern that too much screen time has negative effects on children’s speech ability. On the other hand, reading a loud with interactive communication between children and adults makes their problematic behavior and parents’ stress reduce. From this background, the idea is to naturally empower children to read more and speak more and develop a rich mindset as ‘The Picture Book Forest Under a Roof’.

Atago Nursery / Kei Sasaki + Intermedia

The concept of this project is to build a nursery according to the terrain. In other words, instead of digging on the slope and violently placing a rectangular parallelepiped building, we defined the shape of the building along the slope. This building is a nursery for about 140 children aged 0 to 6 years.
