The Patterson Street residence is located 4km from Melbourne CBD, nestled between the bayside suburbs of Albert Park and West St Kilda on the edge of Port Philip. The original 1900s Bungalow Federation had undergone a number of minor additions over the years, and the client wanted to reinvigorate the house by adding a modern extension to the rear of the retained area of heritage building.

Hambleton street middle park achieving the necessary equal balance between the presence of an existing Edwardian cottage facing the main street and a substantial addition over two levels to its rear, led us to the decision to set down the new portion of the dwelling, thus regardless of its two storey rise, the new is barely visible from the street yet strikingly bold, establishing its own presence when viewed from the service road to the rear.

The Harold Street Residence is a new two storey dwelling located in a heritage overlay area of Middle Park. The brief called for a new residence for a couple with university age children that would accommodate their evolving family needs. The ground floor provides the primary residence for our clients, engaging both with the street and garden, whilst the upper level provides more flexible living areas and bedrooms for their children, visitors and grandchildren.
