The origins of the new Museum can be located at the end of 2001 when the Ministry of National Finance, the Local and Regional Governments signed an agreement to transform the former Prison into the future Iberian Museum headquarters. With this, they lay the foundations for the city of Jaén to recover for public and cultural use a relevant place within the city, located in the new commercial and services area at the confluence between the Paseo de la Estación and the Avenida de Muñoz Grande.

Just when the great construction crisis began, we still had the opportunity to work on two housing projects of different scales in a very poor area of the old town of Jaen: the district of San Juan. The first was already published by Plataforma Arquitectura and ArchDaily: http://www.plataformaarquitectura.cl/cl/02-89897/dos-viviendas-en-la-calle-soria-de-san-juan-de-jaen-brijuni-arquitectos so we just refer to it in parallel to what has been recently completed and published below.

The house is located in an elevated area, from which it dominates a hillside leading down to the sea. This view marks the direction the walls will take and, in an abstract form, define the project. The house is structured as a compaction of volumes of varying heights, and the form established by the main walls.

The sports center design responds to the unique presence that the parcel has in the environment, so that the intervention has been careful to promote their inclusion in the landscape. The relationships between the components of the set comprise a sequence composition. The main volume of sports is a piece of concrete and polycarbonate blends with the terrain and home to the arena of 30x45 m. Beside him sits a blind volume of concrete with lower and that welcomes the support program to court (locker room equipment, administration, nursing, referees changing rooms, storage facilities).
