The Baronesa Apartment originally boasted a well-structured layout, featuring a spacious living room with a balcony, a master bedroom, and two additional bedrooms. The clients expressed their desire for a fully renovated kitchen, one that is luminous and expansive, capable of seamlessly integrating with the living room or being closed off as needed for daily activities. To fulfill this vision, we devised a sliding door that offers flexibility: it can be fully opened, recessed into the wall, or closed altogether.

PINATI occupies one of the townhouses built in the 1930s on the corner of Rua Armando Penteado and Rua Alagoas. The corner, obtuse, makes the plot unfold in a triangle, and it is from its apex and the two sides of this triangle that the project develops itself. The building had been occupied by an ice cream shop, which completely reconfigured its internal floor plan. From the original house, only the façade and the wooden structure of the roof remained. With a new metallic reinforcement structure, all the internal walls were demolished and a mezzanine was created.

The village house of this young couple with twin daughters has a family history. The owner's great-grandfather, who lived in a house across the street, bought the land in 1939, where he built a village of houses and gave one to each child. These houses have been passed down through generations, and today he is the only descendant of the family who has remained in the village.

Following an analysis of the existing unit and client demands, the project's primary focus was on the property's main social areas. By observing the apartment's original plant, we found a pressing need to unify the living room and dining room, which were partially compartmentalized. The kitchen's layout was also questionable, presenting evident issues in proportion and circulation. As in a game of logic, with few movements of the dividing lines, the resulting space turned out to be very interesting. The premises of the project were therefore defined.

The renovation project for the Maranhão apartment seeks beauty in imperfection. Natural elements were the starting point, as we tried to create an architecture of soft nuances and of handcraft processes. By elevating the expression of each part, through the appropriation of materials marked by time coupled with new and precious elements, we strived to achieve a work that recalls nature in the abstract.
