Taking "returning to the nest" as the central theme, we gently weave the everyday warmth of Lingnan dessert traditions into Aranya's distinct sense of retreat and belonging. The authentic textures of materials form the structural framework, while the warmth of Lingnan culture becomes its flesh and soul. Here, the body often recognizes "home" before the mind does—the moment one sits down, a sense of familiarity quietly settles in.

The project is situated within a garment-focused industrial park in Guangzhou, where the primary activities encompass office operations and production. The original structure is a three-story, cube-shaped building with a frame system—consistent with most structures in the park, it abuts the main thoroughfare directly, enclosed on all sides, and presents an almost collisional interface with the street front, lacking any form of buffer zone. The design brief calls for the transformation of this cubic building into a garment design office capable of accommodating approximately 100 occupants. The high occupancy density, combined with the inherently strong functional attributes of the office typology, introduces a pronounced sense of spatial density to the site. Against the backdrop of prioritizing functional requirements, the design process is initiated.

Guangzhou Baiyun (Tangxi) Station East Plot – Twin Towers Interior / DuShe Architectural Design

As one of the "largest railway transportation hubs in Asia," Guangzhou Baiyun Station relies on its supporting station complex to realize the "Station-City Integration" model. The interior design of the East Plot Twin Towers takes the architectural and facade logic as its starting point, continuing the morphological language of "High Mountains and Flowing Water." By extending the facade language to the interior scale, the design achieves systematic synergy between the architecture, facade, and interior spaces, facilitating the hub's overall evolution from a mere transportation facility into a vibrant urban public activity space. Standing atop the super TOD hub of Guangzhou Baiyun Station, the twin towers on the East Plot are positioned as headquarters office buildings for unicorn enterprises in the Greater Bay Area. Our vision is not merely to build an office tower above a transportation hub, but to deliver a groundbreaking reinvention of the traditional transit-oriented office model—transforming it from a mere transportation adjunct into a dynamic urban node. Drawing inspiration from the architectural facade language of "High Mountains and Flowing Water," the design allows natural forms and artistic conception to evolve and flourish within the interior spaces. This approach precisely addresses the deep-seated needs of emerging enterprises regarding spatial quality, talent attraction, and community connectivity. Ultimately, it creates a distinctive workplace that fosters connections with nature and culture, all within the context of an intensive and efficient transportation hub.

The Guangzhou Xuelei Fragrance Museum takes scent—an invisible and intangible medium—as the starting point of its architectural concept. Challenging the visual dominance of conventional museum design, the project introduces smell, memory, and multisensory perception into spatial narration. Guided by principles of openness, collaboration, and sustainability, the museum is conceived not merely as an attractive cultural destination, but as a platform for public engagement with the history of perfumery, traditional craftsmanship, and contemporary technologies. It offers an ideal environment to experience the evolution of fragrance creation. Through architectural expression, the intangible nature of scent is transformed into a tangible, spatial encounter—establishing the museum as a vital venue for dialogue and exchange within global fragrance culture.

Guided by the "one building, one tailored solution" to architectural restoration and driven by the goal of improving everyday livability, the project employs meticulous craftsmanship and techniques. The ultimate aim is to foster a vibrant precinct where historical character and contemporary life exist in symbiosis.

The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area is the world's largest conurbation, with its population anticipated to reach 100 million by 2030. Situated at the southern end of Guangzhou's Nansha District on the western bank of the historic Pearl River, the Greater Bay Area Sports Center will serve as an anchor to the new civic, business, and residential district at the heart of the Greater Bay Area. Offering its local community sports facilities of the highest standards, the center has also been designed to host a diverse programme of major national and international sporting events, as well as cultural performances, that can be easily accessed by all residents of the Greater Bay Area via Line 18 of the Guangzhou Metro and the new Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge.

The Pazhou Central Business District (CBD) is China's first "Science and Technology CBD + Bay Area TOD" complex in the city of Guangzhou. Starting from the initial stage of urban planning, the landscape system has been emphasized as green infrastructure connecting the future CBD, transportation hub, residential area and the Huangpu Chong River, mitigating the urban heat island. The 300-meter-long, 4-hectare Pazhou South Waterfront Park restores the natural riverfront from the existing rigid embankment, connecting the ecological corridors to the city. Integrating nature inspiration, ecological restoration and urban lifestyle, the park brings accessible nature riverside experience and public open spaces to the heart of the booming CBD.

An Office Free in the Gaps of an Urban Village / LLC Studio

The project is located on the edge of an urban village, bordered by a school to the north, a hill to the south, a river to the east, and the village to the west. The small hill to the south provides evergreen vegetation throughout the year, with the sounds of birds and insects alternating throughout the day. In this environment, the building is designed to be open, with all four walls capable of being opened, actively embracing the surrounding natural environment. More importantly, the close interaction with nature allows for a heightened sense of the passage of time, as these sounds or light appear punctually at different times of the day and year.

The “Old” Chaple / O-office Architects

"Old" here is both an adjective and a verb. "Old Church" is an event about time construction. The "Old Church" is the first realised public building of Arana Jiulong Lake Comminity in Huadu of Guangzhou. The original site of is a simulated church building of a "European Town" theme park. The building locates on the south-east conner of the town and faces the mainentrance of the community. Arana hopes it will become the first spiritual symbol for the community. The original building can be regarded as a local projection of the West, and its construction began roughly fifteen years ago. How to resolve the dislocation between the history reflected by the image and its construction history has become a speculative issue in the "Church" renewal project. Therefore what the church needs to construct is not space, but time.

INSIDE Guangzhou is a gin bar and coffee shop located in Pazhou, Canton (Guangzhou). R-BAS was invited to reshape this mini-space within a limited construction budget by introducing a constantly changing panorama of dynamism into the interior. The homely bar provides semi-self-service beverages for the community. Expected to allow customers to use the facilities on site flexibly, the design was asked to study the environmental psychology that how laid-back emotions and perceptions could be brought about from the room, promoting positive internal and external interactions, thereby enabling diverse social behaviors in this small area.
