The plot is located in the historical city centre of Granollers and placed into an urban fabric of dwellings between party walls. The available space is narrow and elongated, only 6.5 m wide; and accessible from two streets. Owing to the dilapidated state of the existing building, only the main façade, reasonably well preserved offering a certain heritage value,could be maintained.

The architectural strategy used has been to create a building whose exterior is defined by a language that seeks abstraction through colour, rhythm, and movement: a language that will contrast with the domestic private life of the residents inside. To combine these two concepts moveable panels have been mounted on the façades. By opening or closing them, residents can choose the level of light or privacy they want at any time throughout the year.

It was built in two stages so that classes could proceed in the old building, which is on the same site. In the first phase the classrooms were built on the ground floor and on two upper floors, aligned to one of the corridors. The dining hall and the gym were built in the second phase, when the pupils had moved to the new classrooms.
