The sharing of enhancement through art and its delicate appreciation delicately touch the texture of emotion, deepen the emotional connection, and expand the inner side of the relationship richer and deeper through the process of sharing inspiration. Art becomes a bridge that narrows the distance from others, the shared impression slits as 'our own special experiment', and they become the nourishment of life that constantly reawakens the meaning and value in the passage of time.

MizMedi DEAR'ONE is a specialized postpartum care center, a project initiated by MizMedi Hospital to attract international patients and contribute to the development of a medical special zone. The journey from architectural design in 2020 to completion spanned four years, fraught with challenges: the COVID-19 pandemic, the Russia-Ukraine war impacting material costs, and a national decline in birth rates. Despite these hurdles, the hospital persevered, driven by its mission to provide exceptional care for mothers and newborns.

Land conditions. At the entrance of the tiny one-way street located just around the corner from Airport Road is the modest pentagonal lot. The five-sided piece of land has an unavoidable prerequisite, given the land’s corner location on narrow streets. The old building was built adjacent to the buildings surrounding it, and its appearance alone showed that it had been keeping watch over the neighborhood for a very long while. Walking around the site with the client on the first day and seeing the large windows of the apartment buildings surrounding the three sides of the site, we felt as if all the eyes were looking down on the land. One advantage of corner buildings is that many architectural elements can be displayed on the outside, with the downside of whatever going on inside the building being observable from the outside.

The structural format from the “Magok Hive” is the same as “Urban Hive”, which was designed in 2008. By combining columns and beams diagonally, it created a structural wall in which the flow of gravity came down straight and removed the gap between the stress lines.

‘Five story house’ is the vertically stacked result of a single- family house on a small site in highly dense city, Seoul, Korea. In less than 100m2 property area with required setbacks and parking regulation, this tall and skinny house creates ‘vertical living’ with different floor zonings. In Korea where the real estate is one of the most effective investment tools, purchasing a flat is the common way to increase ones assets. Living in a flat with living room, kitchen, dining and bedrooms in a single floor, is typical residential environment in Seoul. Considering economic value of flats through redevelopment and the familiarity of living infrastructure, a vertically stacked house with small floor area is a provocative residential type in this culture. The additional cost based on complicated construction on small site, increased area of interior & exterior envelop and neighbors’ complaints within dense urban fabric are downsides of the developing this type of vertical house. Nonetheless, recently this vertical house is at the fore among the people who had grown up at the flats in 80s/ 90s and look for their living values in diverse spatial qualities which cannot be achieved from the flats.
