The DFB Campus with its football pitches, sports facilities, and new building is embedded in Frankfurt’s city forest on the site of the former racecourse. It is within this green setting with a natural boundary to the surrounding areas that the mixture of structural components, sports fields, small open places, and clearings form a joint campus. The required space, including administrative areas, press center, conference rooms, athletes’ accommodation, and state-of-the-art sports facilities, is arranged below a single long-span roof around the individual sports fields and exterior space.

The Historical Museum in Frankfurt is one of the oldest institutions of its kind. It is located directly in the centre of the city, at the Römerberg and near the river Main. Until the 2010s, it was housed in an ensemble of historic buildings and in an annex building from the 1970s made of reinforced concrete. This more recent building had become unsuitable for further use due to technical problems concerning fire protection, escape routes, and contamination by harmful substances.

The exhibition “Yesterday's Future” juxtaposes utopias by Future Systems and Archigram. It presents extraordinary utopias created by the teams of architects at Future Systems and Archigram. It focuses on detailed technical drawings, brightly coloured collages and filigree original models.

The works by Czech architect and founder of Future Systems Jan Kaplický, who emigrated to London in 1968, date from the 1980s and 1990s and are juxtaposed to designs created 20 years earlier by the Archigram architectural group, which was made up of Peter Cook, Ron Herron, and Dennis Crompton. Whereas Archigram conceived organic architecture that ensured survival in inhospitable environments, the technoid designs by Future Systems were located in friendlier places such as deserted natural surroundings or extremely built-up cities.

schöne räume | architektur innenarchitektur has succeeded in the competition and convinced the advertising agency "Zum Goldenen Hirschen" by its presentation for extending their office premises. Late last year, the team of architects started with the planning and implementation of the well-known advertising agency based on the Hanauer Landstraße. Promoting internal communication procedures by architecture represented the focus of re-construction of buildings. Interior fittings and individually designed furniture were not only to match the philosophy of the agency, same should also duly reflect the requirements for individual and team working areas and, demonstrate the agency’s way of thinking. In close liaison with the team of the agency, schöne räume developed a draft conception and design elements and, consequently, accepted responsibility for adequate implementation thereof.

Good architecture takes its environment into account, particularly surrounding buildings. In Frankfurt am Main, Franken Architekten has taken a literal approach through a digitally drawn façade for a new home and studio in old town Sachsenhausen. Frankfurt’s Alt-Sachsenhausen is a neighborhood that, according to the city, urgently needed to change. Until the 1990s, traditional cider houses dominated the area valued for its entertainment and nightlife, but it was heavily run down in recent years. The city created a preservation statute that placed premiums on the conversion of the gastronomy establishments to housing and other uses. A small scene of art galleries, ad agencies, and fashion and designers shops sprung up in the area, leading some people to call the district SoMa (South of Main), inspired by New York’s famous SoHo (South of Houston) area.

The day-care centre for children “Schöne Aussicht” is a prototype of the building block design system for childcare facilities in Frankfurt on the Main. The design has been developed on the basis of a competition won in 2009. The centre comprises two-storey buildings of varying sizes, which are currently errected at several locations in the city of Frankfurt. The buildings are timber structures which meet the passive house standard.
