In Yanbu Village, Nanhai, Foshan, an ancient dragon boat rests beneath the silt of a local river—the renowned "Yanbu Old Dragon." Constructed in 1432 during the Ming Dynasty's Xuande reign, it is now 593 years old. The legend behind it, centered on the principle of "resolving discord with mutual respect," forms the ethical core of the local dragon-boat culture, one characterized by humility and ritual observance. This legacy has spawned a set of unique customs perpetuated for centuries. By weaving this profound intangible heritage into its fabric, the park project aims to create contemporary spatial forms that reactivate community vitality.

In the Foshan Guanyao Cultural and Art Center (Guanyao Sanbao) project, the architects adopted an approach of comprehensive restoration to its original state, combined with localized micro-renovations, in order to preserve the character of the original street block. At the same time, they incorporated spatial cues themed around "ceramics" to provide a spatial foundation for curators, artists, and operators, ultimately realizing the vision of development of related business format and revitalizing the district through ceramic art. At the beginning of 2023, ceramic artist Li Jianshen selected a relatively inconspicuous cluster of buildings on the north side of Yiyuan West Road in Guanyao Town, Nanhai District, Foshan, as the future site of the Guanyao Cultural and Art Center. At that time, every building and object within the site seemed as though it had been sealed away for years, quietly awaiting rediscovery.

In the core hinterland of Daliang Subdistrict, Shunde District, a 138,000 square meter of three-dimensional water town is breaking ground for a newborn - as the largest volume in South China, it is also the first TOD commercial complex in Shunde city. The staggered and dynamic open layout constructs Lingnan courtyards and skywells with different scenery, and the water town imagery of stream banks, fishing boats, boat canopies, mist and waves can be seen everywhere in the venue, which is skillfully reflected by light and shadow, giving visitors a confusing, real and imaginary symbiotic spatial perception. The reconstruction of Lingnan courtyard and water town culture here is a creative dialogue between local culture and contemporary design language.

OVERVIEW - Located next to Midea's headquarters in Beijiao New City, Shunde, "Shunde ALSO" aims to create a new neighborhood that feels like a spiritual sanctuary within reach. The store faces southwest, with a wide street in front that connects to the side entrance of the He Art Museum. This open, flat space, surrounded by tall buildings, feels like a valley. All year round, sunlight shines directly on this area from morning to evening, providing plenty of brightness. However, the intense sunlight in Guangdong also brings challenges, with its long hours, scorching heat, and high temperatures.

Although the children's grandpa is old, he is in good spirits. The site is located in the center of the town. Surrounding buildings are also for residential use. This is a typical self-built housing block in the Pearl River Delta. The homestead is 8 meters wide and 10 meters deep, which is very similar to other homesteads within the block. The north and south sides are narrow alleys, and the west side is a narrow dead-end alley.
The project is located in a granary built by Shunde County in the 1980s. Next to the 70m wide river is the Shunde Lunjiao Dachong, which has been the venue for dragon boat races, and dragon boat crews can often be seen shuttling through the river. The design site is a long glass box (20x6m in length and width) that was added after the renovation. Although it is located at the entrance of the building, the external facade is covered by plants, and the interior is dim, while the internal staircase leading to the first floor (for other tenants) takes up 2/3 of the space, resulting in the interior being only 3m wide at the narrowest point, and at the same time, at a floor height of 4.2m, the space at the bottom of the staircase creates a sense of oppression and is difficult to use. Our aim was to provide a comfortable and complete service space while at the same time combining the characteristics of the site with a sense of being here and now for the FEI, clients, and passers-by.

With the redefinition of retail space, physical retail space is no longer a simple consumer space. The innovative application of new technologies in the field of commercial real estate not only satisfies consumers’ increasing needs for product quality, personalization, and diversification but also endows physical retail space with more possibilities.

The project is one of the symmetrical commercial buildings around the central axis of Foshan City. The original state is a 300-square-meter glass building, and its dullness can be imagined. The owners are a French dessert shop and wool felt art shop. How to combine two different types of spaces so that they can coexist harmoniously will be an interesting exploration. After communication, it was found that the glass curtain wall could not be changed, so we arranged a new facade image with stainless steel ribs, and at the same time gave the interior a looming feeling. The integrated design of the platform and outdoor seating replaces the temporary feeling of the slope, and at the same time forms a spacious outside swing area to make up for the lack of indoor dining space.

Village. Huangchong Village is a typical newly-built village,in the central region of the Pearl River Delta in Guangdong, China. A typical Lingnan village might be expected with the winding waterways. But as a matter of fact, two kilometers away from the upstream of the river, there is a traditional village that is more consistent with general imagination, covering stone bridges and ancestral halls in the late Qing Dynasty. And the place in the aerial photo is called Huangchong Village, where it exposes us to another practical context. It is a place difficult to describe in terms of preliminary understanding. Probably, it can be described as "wild" and "vague" place: It is a vital village filled with people and daily life. As a new village without the elements of traditional Lingnan villages, such as ancestral halls, iron sheets and tiles are major compositions, paired with the pragmatic atmosphere of small businesses. The ambiguity pervaded in the countryside of the Pearl River Delta is emerged from the street life and reacted upon the life here, which might lead to a loss of identity, though it is not a derogatory term.

TIC Art Center, as an iconic symbol that represents the image of the maker town, received a total investment of around 180 million yuan. DOMANI was invited to carry out the overall design of the project, with the design scope covering landscape, architecture, interior, products, and more. Meanwhile, top-tier resources in the sector are joined together to create top-class work with high integrity, high standards, high academic and commercial value, and high urbanity, which is rarely seen in the real estate industry in recent years. The project becomes a hit, indicating that Times China is embarking on a new journey of refined product-oriented long-term development.
