The small footprint of the project demonstrates that when dwellings are tailored to specific and carefully outlined needs, their scale can be reduced significantly, thereby reducing energy consumption during both construction and occupancy. The project is very much suited to the current times, where people are questioning the extent of their own consumption, and determining exactly what they really need to have satisfying lives. The project belongs and contributes to broad cultural trends in the shift from quantity to quality in details. The project also demonstrates the resourceful use of land that would have been considered largely residual in the past.

City West Water (CWW) is a sustainable water business, providing innovative services to their local community. CWW relocated their head office to Footscray, to the new activity centre development known as FCAD. This was a significant culture shift for the organisation, as they moved from their head office site in Sunshine, a self-owned, single occupancy, remote facility, to shared tenanted building, as a lessee.

The new Exercise Science and Sport Precinct and Learning Commons Project for Victoria University creates a new presence for the Footscray Park Campus to the north. The new building defines an edge similar to that of a medieval walled hill town. This definition provides a strong image and address to the campus. Gesturing to the community beyond, the new building is a portal providing both visual and physical connectivity into the campus.
