Designing an ephemeral pavilion with large experimental freedom, without the usual constraints that are present in conventional briefings, is a great opportunity that ArcelorMittal offers to architects, rare in Brazil although usual in institutions, museums and cultural centers worldwide, promoting architecture in its deepest reason: the spatial and technological research towards the invention of new ways for everyday life.

Halfway in between Barcelona and Sant Cugat, la Floresta is a low density neighbourhood placed in Collserola mountains. An unorganized constellation of houses sprinkles the hills covered with plenty of vegetation. In la Floresta there is place for both dirt and asphalt roads, as well as for recently built houses and constructions from the 50’s.

In 2017, the interior architecture exhibition CASACOR Minas occupied an important building that integrates the Architectural Complex of the Station Square, a region marked by the strong urban, cultural, political and gastronomic effervescence of the city. The place served as the headquarters of the defunct Federal Railways S / A (RFFSA) and is directly associated with the creation of Belo Horizonte. In recent years, the building has undergone a restoration process under the supervision of IPHAN for future house the facilities of the Railway Museum after more than a decade closed.

Sapucaí Street, where the project is located, is part of the historical and cultural center of Belo Horizonte, with a privileged view of the iconic Santa Tereza viaduct, Municipal Park and Belo Horizonte Central Station. With a strong tendency to be a gastronomic center, the project brought as demand a sophisticated atmosphere who dialogues with the street.
