The Westhof Dübendorf by Conen Sigl Architects stands on the plot of a former plant nursery along the tracks of the Hochbord area in Dübendorf near Zurich. The neighborhood, a former industrial and commercial zone, is undergoing major restructuring due to its re-zoning into a residential area. Inspired by the site’s history as a plant nursery, the cooperative housing project with complementary communal uses creates an identity-forming place that fosters a strong sense of community and ecological connectivity. Its architectural language, with its robust and simple materialization, echoes the functionality of the previous structure, while the proximity to a nature reserve reinforces its connection to the area's ecosphere.

Dario Wohler Architects have converted the former fire brigade building of the Dübendorf military airfield to the site of the future Zurich Innovation Park. The immediate area has a long history, which will now be continued in the coming years with the Zurich Innovation Park, which is in the process of being created.

Stöckli House / Clou Architekten

The new Stöckli is located in the second row of a green and sloping suburban area. Thanks to its silver plywood facade with its striking grain, it expands the single-family home to a representative and harmonic ensemble facing the valley. Sloping upwards toward the garden, the Stöckli tucks itself under an old walnut tree as a single-story pavilion.

DFAB House / NCCR Digital Fabrication

DFAB HOUSE marks the first time that a full scale, the inhabited multi-story building has been designed and built using advanced digital fabrication methods. The project is the result of a nationwide interdisciplinary research initiative in Switzerland, called NCCR Digital Fabrication, aimed at transforming the design and building process by integrating computational design and digital fabrication into architecture. Its design concept is based on leveraging the full architectural potential of selected novel digital building processes in the field of robotic fabrication and 3 D printing technologies through integrated processes.

The work yard of the Holzkorporation Dübendorf, is situated right along the edge of the woods, nestled in a community called Geeren. With the building of the new structure, the complex was extended towards the forest. Six glued spruce wood binders form the primary structure, each of which is connected to three roof beam and a girder on one side. The wood construction sits on a concrete foundation, which slopes naturally along the terrain. Four steel cable crosses reinforce the structure in the middle binder field.
