The thoughtful, creative design resulted in a flexible, friendly, and inspiring 13,500-square-foot office space that pays homage to the structure's past and Astroscale's Japanese roots.</p>]]>

        <![CDATA[<p>This experimental project is located in the first belt of low-density neighborhoods surrounding downtown <a href="https://www.archdaily.com/tag/denver">Denver</a> at only two miles of the city center. It provides centrally located, low-cost housing for individuals or couples while integrating within the morphology of the suburban environment. The site consists of a 50-foot wide parcel divided into two equal lots. According to local zoning codes, we could build the main house and an ‘accessory dwelling unit’ (ADU) on each lot. By organizing each front house into 3 studios, each with its own bathroom and kitchenette, and large communal living space, we managed to have eight units in total: six studios in the front houses, and two split-levels ‘artists’ studios in the ADUs towards the alley. </p>]]>

        <![CDATA[<p>In 2019 Meridian 105 Architecture undertook the redesign and adaptive reuse of a circa 1890s masonry firehouse standing in <a href="https://www.archdaily.com/tag/denver">Denver</a>’s LoHi neighborhood. During its operation as a firehouse, the building housed both the horses and carriages used during that era. The structure however stood at the top of a steep hill which proved dysfunctional for horse-drawn fire pumps and therefore was decommissioned in the early 20<sup>th</sup> century. Since that time, the building has served many other purposes from a 1920s-era speakeasy to its most recent use as an apartment building. </p>]]>

An incubator for sustainable living, it maximizes the use of sunlight and green spaces, provides density and variety in living spaces, and savings on energy bills. The overarching concept was to remove the car from the site (moving to park underground) and allow a space for urban farming, a shared communal park space, and a planted stormwater retention system among the residential buildings.</p>]]>

        <![CDATA[<p>Positioned on a narrow 28' wide lot in Denver's LoHi neighborhood, the 33rd Avenue house is an elongated, open floor plan with living space split between three full levels.  While the urban quality of the neighborhood was desirable to the homeowners, the considerable amount of foot &amp; vehicular traffic turning the corner of this particular property necessited a creative solution for maintaining interior and back-yard privacy.  Meridian 105 proposed raising the entire 1st floor of the home to nearly 6' above the sidewalk.  </p>]]>
