N6 House is located in the exclusive gated community of Los Ríos de Chicureo, Chile. Situated on a corner lot measuring 40x25 meters with a slight slope towards the west, this residence stands out for its design and aesthetics. Constructed primarily of steel and concrete, the house was designed to maximize the open space of the terrain. To achieve this, a rectangular volume housing the public areas of the residence was placed on the first floor, oriented parallel to the western boundary. This is complemented by a larger second-floor volume perpendicular to it, containing the bedrooms and private spaces.

The house is developed on a single level and with direct contact to the land at the request of its owners. To achieve this and produce a terracing with the least impact on a steep slope hill, the house was organized in a linear way crossing from one hill to the other at the same level through a bridge over a small creek. The glazed bridge articulates the public and private areas whit full view to front and back.

The project is located in Chicureo, a suburb of Santiago, occupying half of a 5,000 m² lot. The assignment was to design a one-level house to facilitate mobility, which should take over the entire plot’s extension, solve an uncomfortable orientation, and respond well to the local climatic conditions The project is proposed with two displaced orthogonal volumes, one that follows the land’s perimeter lines and houses the most public programs of the house. The other one is displayed in a north-south axis containing the bedrooms.

The house is located in the commune of Colina, on the outskirts of Santiago de Chile, and was designed for a young couple of doctors. The brief required integrating a residence with a home office, as they both work remotely. The architectural program is highly straightforward: the ground floor houses the study overlooking the garden, a guest bedroom, the kitchen, and the living and dining areas, while the upper floor contains the bedrooms for the couple and their children. A key aspect of the design was integrating the house into its semi-arid landscape, which determined its orientation, ensuring the main rooms receive sunlight throughout the day. The house faces north to maximize sunlight, while the street-facing facade remains opaque to provide privacy for the family.

They’re planning to settle and generate a new life there, with all the possibilities that a 5.000 sqm site can offer in different stages of life.

They are represented symbolically for their own position in battlefield.

At the beginning of 2012 a young couple approached our practice for a house. They had fallen in love with the beautiful setting of a small community on the outskirts of Santiago. On top of a steep hill, no road to reach it, with all the utilities’ network down below, the plot posed quite a challenge. Amazing unobstructed views of the Chicureo valley, however, made it more than worth the effort.
