Located in a nature-rich residential area of Tokyo, TAKAASHIROU is a three storey-building consisting of a pastry shop on the 1^st floor and residents from the 2^nd – 3^rd floors. This building is constructed along a slope of a cliff line and supported by tall wooden pillars with distinctive architectural elements. This is why this building was named TAKAASHIROU, which means tall pillars.

Owner’s family lives in the upper story of the cafe. There is a story that used to be important “well” for the people who lives in the area. Owner’s Grandfather had opened restaurant, which named “IDUMI”, which means “well” in Japanese. After he had passed away, his grandchild opened coffee café, take over the store name “IDUMI” with grand respect.

The exhibition project Dreams of Frozen Music at the Tokyo Art Museum in Sengawa will present about 30 drawings from the last couple of years from the architect. These works are not meant to be “the typical drafts” for architectural projects. No building is ever being built according to them, they rather can be seen as “free architectural fantasies.” Tchoban’s esthetic approach, his visual language and his artistic means seem not to be contemporary but rather timeless. The Tokyo prefecture Chofu City where this second-hand condominium is located is a lush green commuter town where close to the Tama river and the municipal park, and access to the central Tokyo well. There is good access to the Japan Alps owing to the proximity of Chofu Interchange on expressway. We designed a house for a couple who loves mountains in a corner suite on the 4th floor.
