The Terrace House began with a simple question: if a household consists of only two people and a dog, how should a home be organized to truly support their way of living? Rather than following the conventional model of a family house, the project defines itself through shared living spaces and a generous upper terrace that becomes the center of everyday life.

The design centers around expressing the "variety of gems" through architectural language, creating a space that is distinctive, alluring, and sensorially engaging. Inspired by the beauty of gemstones such as diamond, opal, amethyst, garnet, emerald, aquamarine, sapphire, and citrine, the design translates their forms, colors, and reflective qualities into built form, while subtly integrating local cultural identity.

This calm and natural setting extends along the river's axis, forming a backdrop visible across the property. A uniform grid of columns supports the extensive concrete slab, which defines and divides the spaces beneath. From the street, the house appears as a closed and unassuming box. However, when the gate-like exterior wall is opened, the central earthen floor, the river, the garden, and the street merge into one unified space.

The site’s face is 10 meters while its length is 34 meters. Once cutting the shortening of the land is done, it would provide a house that looks narrow and long like a commercial building. The house front tangible with the road is in the west so the parking lot is put right in front of the house so that cars could reverse easily, whereas the living space is put in the north to evade too much sunlight while giving privacy. The ladder and restrooms are placed in the west to block sunlight and heat, making the living spaces and bedroom not get direct sunlight and can still be cozy and not too hot in all parts of the day.

PTT Saraphi station is a pilot project of this design program by PTTOR, an organization in charge of PTT's affiliated gas stations in Thailand that want their station to become a public space for passers and people in the local area. Sher Maker keept the existing structure of the main sale building and encased it with the façade by questioning the possibility of the participation of local people by using the skills of a local craftsmanship studio.

An Art Collector's gallery in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand consisting of several interior pavilions enclosed by intricate gardens with exterior sculptures and ornate water features. Enter projects Asia was commissioned to design the display of bespoke artworks, using all-natural materials. The international collection of silverware, fine china, and porcelain includes the largest Wedgwood collection in Southeast Asia. The owner and avid collector sought to contextualize a lifelong ambition to exhibit the treasures gathered over a 50-year period. Traditionally a clinical space in which art objects meet an audience, Enter Projects Asia was challenged to bring life to the gallery, with zoning, lighting, and seating in their signature style blending 3D geometries with traditional Thai craftsmanship. "We sought to create an immersive experience, giving the space a warmth and depth uncharacteristic of conventional art galleries" states Patrick Keane, Enter Projects Asia Director.

“We are convinced that real architecture will leave an indelible trace in our minds by only elementary architectural action". Today, architectural design for commercial spaces is expected and driven to try to communicate visually with users, or as a tool to attract people to spaces through visualization, photography, and social statement inevitably. In particular, restaurant and café type programs often borrow the other language of architecture to attract customers. But as a design worker in Chiang Mai, A city in which such businesses are driven by an architecture that requires Instagramable, is it necessary to question the situation through the design work? at least in order not to overlook the true essence of our profession.

Home is a built environment that is designed literally for growing together with the people that home belongs to. Therefore, it can be used to say “people grow the home” than just build it. This two-storey house consists of 260 sq.m. of use area. The main body of the house is dispersed along the length of the land with the main terrace linking every function together. The front side runs along with a small village road, and the backside with the existing trees and rice field.

This ‘Pie House’, with its own specialty, belongs to two ladies who want to start building a family together. Therefore, this is the beginning for the new architecture interpretation. We try to leave the housing typology behind and then figure out the relativity of the behavior, area and time until this house has a combination of crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

Sher Maker is an architectural design studio with an interest in the process and meaning behind building construction. We are interested in the origins of architectural formations which depend on the context of local technology and materials. We also interest in the design of the atmosphere that surrounds the building in both physical and ambiance. Since we are a small studio settle in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
