More about this product

Garnica is a global leader in the production of innovative and high-quality plywood, working with wood from sustainable and renewable sources to preserve ecological balance. Maple-faced European poplar core plywood from Garnica was used throughout the Accelerator Unit at Hospital La Paz, a new rehabilitative pavilion on the campus of Hospital La Paz in Madrid, Spain.

The Accelerator Unit at Hospital La Paz is a compact, state‑of‑the‑art healthcare facility designed as a modular pavilion to support physical rehabilitation and research programs for young patients. Conceived by Murado & Elvira Architects, the unit is positioned on a rooftop terrace and functions as a sequence of connected therapeutic, exercise, and laboratory spaces that create a welcoming environment distinct from the main hospital building.

Accelerator Unit at La Paz Hospital

Garnica’s Elegance maple-faced plywood was specified for interior walls and ceilings to achieve a warm, natural aesthetic that supports patient well‑being while meeting the performance and durability demands of a busy medical setting. The material’s uniform surface quality, stability, and ease of machining enabled consistent application across varied interior zones, reinforcing the design’s calm and cohesive atmosphere. Its use contributes to an uplifting space that balances rigorous functional standards with a human‑centered architectural expression.
