The Micro series designed by Sebastian Herkner is a ceramic tile series from AGROB BUCHTAL conceived for interior architectural applications where restraint and material continuity are required. The collection is based on a warm, mineral-inspired base surface combined with three geometric decorative patterns—LINES, MESH, and SQUARE—derived from linear, grid, and checkerboard structures.
The patterns are designed to operate at multiple scales. At a distance, the decorative elements recede into the background, while closer inspection reveals fine graphic detailing with a textile-like appearance. This calibrated level of visual intensity allows the surfaces to remain discreet while offering material depth.
The series is defined by a restrained design language rather than a dominant visual statement. Used individually or in combination, the decorative patterns establish a dialogue with the base tiles, referencing familiar geometric systems commonly found in everyday architectural contexts. The strict geometry of the patterns is moderated by the natural character of the base surface, resulting in a balanced and visually soft overall effect.
Micro integrates easily into contemporary spatial layouts and supports subtle zoning without relying on trend-driven aesthetics. The collection is suitable for a range of applications, including entrance areas, kitchens, bathrooms, and hospitality interiors such as cafés, bistros, and restaurants.
Color Concept
The color palette comprises seven warm beige and brown tones, complemented by low-saturation neutral greys and a deep, dark lava shade. The mineral-based graphic treatment produces even color distribution with fine, soft grain structures, contributing to a calm and cohesive surface appearance.
Each base color is paired with a corresponding accent color used for the decorative patterns. The perceived color intensity varies with the proportion of the decorated surface: the LINES pattern introduces subtle contrast, MESH increases graphic definition, and SQUARE achieves the highest level of visual intensity through its denser checkerboard composition with a lightly reflective finish.
