Facade Systems at Rivus Vivere Urban Quarter | Sto

Sto is a global manufacturer of facade systems and external wall insulation solutions for new construction and renovation projects. Facade systems from Sto, including the StoTherm Mineral insulation system with glazed brick slips and render, were applied in Rivus Vivere, a new neighborhood in Vienna, Austria.

Rivus Vivere is a distinctive urban quarter spanning over 13,000 m² in southwest Vienna. The development sits atop an artificial hill, concealing parking, storage, and technical facilities below. Seven buildings of varying heights are linked through courtyards, squares, open staircases, and passageways. The design emphasizes inclusivity, integration with the surrounding landscape, and a balance of light and shadow throughout the densely built environment.

Sto facade systems were used to create durable, energy-efficient, and visually cohesive buildings. The combination of glazed brick slips and rendered surfaces offers both a solid material presence and a refined aesthetic. Insulation and rendering details ensure thermal efficiency (U-value 0.2 W/m²K), moisture protection, and compliance with fire safety standards. Mounting elements were installed without thermal bridging, and parapets and window reveals were detailed for clean transitions. Together, these elements contribute to a safe, comfortable, and attractive neighborhood.
