More about this product

Sto is a global manufacturer of facade systems and external wall insulation solutions for new construction and renovation projects. StoTherm Mineral facade insulation systems and StoCleyer B brick slips were used in The Pulse (De Puls), a mixed-use office and residential development located in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

The Pulse forms a prominent perimeter block in Amsterdam’s Zuidas district and acts as a gateway to the Kenniskwartier area. Designed by VMX Architects and MVSA Architects with landscape design by DELVA, the project combines two towers rising from a shared low-rise plinth. The development accommodates offices, residential units, retail, restaurants, cinemas, and a large supermarket, organized around a generous inner courtyard. A setback within the block increases daylight, privacy, and spatial quality, while the plinth functions as a public meeting place that connects the neighborhood.

StoTherm Mineral creates a continuous, non-combustible insulated envelope across the hybrid concrete and timber construction. StoCleyer B brick slips were used on the residential tower to reference Amsterdam’s historic brick architecture in a contemporary, three-dimensional expression. Varying brick tones, bay-like protrusions, and sculpted recesses add depth and texture, while maintaining low facade weight and high thermal performance. The mineral brick system enables durable detailing around corners, loggias, and integrated nesting boxes, supporting both architectural articulation and long-term resilience.
