More about this product

Sto is a global manufacturer of facade systems and external wall insulation solutions for new construction and renovation projects. StoTherm Mineral facade insulation systems and StoCera ceramic facade elements were used in Sportlerhaus, a mixed-use residential and commercial building located in Hamburg, Germany.

Sportlerhaus is an eight-storey building in Hamburg’s HafenCity district, positioned between the Baakenhafen waterfront and Gretchen-Wohlwill-Platz. Designed by Spine Architects, the project combines 38 residential units with ground-floor commercial spaces, including a café and shared work areas. The compact volume and angular geometry respond to the harbor context, while the layout promotes social interaction through shared amenities and flexible apartment typologies.

Sportlerhaus’ (Sports House) at Hamburg's Baakenhafen

StoTherm Mineral creates a continuous, non-combustible insulated envelope across the reinforced concrete and sand-lime brick structure. StoCera glazed ceramic elements form a durable, low-maintenance facade with a pronounced three-dimensional effect. Varying ceramic formats and orientations generate depth and shadow, reinterpreting Hamburg’s brick architecture in a contemporary language while ensuring long-term weather resistance and color stability.
