Glazing Vision is a manufacturer of architectural glass skylights engineered to enhance spaces through natural light and minimalist design. The Sliding Over Roof Skylight from Glazing Vision was used in a contemporary outbuilding project on Swains Lane, London, United Kingdom, bringing expansive daylight and ventilation into the top-floor kitchen of this modern residence.

The Swains Lane project involved replacing an existing steel-framed house with a striking four-story contemporary home set on the edge of a historic Victorian cemetery. Designed by Eldridge Smerin, the building features a concrete frame and walls detailed with frameless structural glass to maximize panoramic views and reinforce its minimalist aesthetic. The architects aimed to create a light-filled, open interior that connects seamlessly with the surrounding environment.
In this project, a custom Sliding Over Roof Skylight from Glazing Vision was installed on a flat roof above the kitchen, allowing an entire section of glazing to retract onto the roof and open the space to the sky. Designed in-house to meet the unique dimensions of the project, the skylight features hidden electronic controls and quiet operation, enhancing thermal performance and user comfort. Its ability to create unobstructed sightlines and introduce abundant natural light and fresh air contributes to the home’s serene, contemporary character.
