Elval Colour manufactures coating solutions for sustainable building envelopes and materials. After nearly five decades of inactivity, the Piraeus Tower was renovated by Pila Studio, featuring etalbond® A2 aluminium composite panels and arypon® protective coating. The panels were applied as external shutters, integrated with lighting systems that define the building’s new façade.
The project prioritized safety, performance, and precision in the selection of materials. The façade system combines glass panes, insulation, and etalbond® A2-clad shutters within modular units, ensuring fast installation, easy maintenance, and compliance with fire protection standards for high-rise buildings. Additionally, the composite panels were protected using arypon® coating, contributing to keeping the surface clean and minimizing maintenance costs.

Each shutter was manufactured with custom aluminium sections clad in etalbond® A2, measuring 10 cm deep, 55 cm wide, and 3.2 m high. Lighting was integrated into the front edge of each vertical element, enhancing the building’s geometry. The chosen finish, 955 Anodised Look C0/EV1, from Elval Colour’s Future Classic range, was paired with the arypon® protective coating, which prevents the accumulation of dust and pollutants while extending the material’s lifespan.
