FDT is part of the Holcim group alongside Elevate EMEA, specializing in complete waterproofing systems and offering comprehensive services for all project phases. The Meydan Shopping Center in Istanbul features an extensive green roof system that seamlessly integrates architectural form with environmental performance. The project uses the Rhepanol hg membrane, selected for its long-term waterproofing capacity and durability, providing a reliable foundation for the 31,000 m² roof surface.
Loosely laid under ballast, Rhepanol hg allows for easy maintenance, repairs, and future modifications—an advantage for large commercial buildings exposed to varying load conditions. Once installed, the entire roof was covered with grass, transforming the surface into a living landscape that improves the local microclimate, reduces heat, and enhances the building’s urban presence.

The roof’s design follows the contours of the structure below, creating a topographic effect through gentle folds and smooth transitions. This approach yields a distinctive, cohesive landscape that seamlessly integrates architecture, function, and ecology.
