Jonite offers contemporary engineered stonework solutions that merge natural aesthetics with high-performance functionality for modern architectural and landscape designs. Jonite's trench grates and sump covers were applied in the design of the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) campus in Punggol.
The SIT Punggol campus is a 91,000-square-metre integrated university development opened in 2024. Masterplanned and designed by WOHA Architects in collaboration with Surbana Jurong, the campus houses applied learning facilities, research centres, and collaboration zones within a walkable, digitally enabled environment. A network of open plazas, courtyards, and green linkages connects the campus and ties it to the surrounding Punggol Digital District.
Across external circulation and service areas, Jonite trench grates and sump covers were specified as part of the drainage strategy of the project. In locations with heavy vehicular access, D400 load-rated units were installed to meet structural requirements while maintaining a consistent hardscape finish. Anti-slip surface properties support everyday safety for high foot traffic in both wet and dry conditions.
Stone-reinforced construction provides durability and facilitates surface water management without compromising the campus’ material palette. Textured finishes and modular detailing integrate with paving and landscape elements to support a coherent, low-maintenance public realm.
