More about this product

Schenker Storen develops and produces a wide range of sun and weather protection products for both indoor and outdoor areas. The Zurich Police and Justice Centre (PJZ) is one of the most significant public building projects undertaken in Switzerland in recent years. Schenker Storen supplied 3,200 VS ZIP wind-stable vertical fabric blinds, providing a tailored solar control solution for the project.

The complex brings together the police, justice system, and law enforcement services, accommodating 2,030 workstations and 241 detention units across more than 200,000 m² of gross floor space. The architects chose Schenker Storen wind-stable vertical fabric blinds because of their wind resistance, precise guide mechanisms, and seamless aesthetic integration with the building envelope. Thanks to the ZIP technology, the drop remains securely in place within the guide rails, even in strong winds, making them an optimal solution for tall buildings and exposed locations.

The fabric blinds offer effective protection against sun and glare, while also playing a key role in regulating indoor thermal comfort, a crucial factor in a multifunctional facility comprising offices, interview rooms, courtrooms, and logistics areas. The selected screen fabric allows natural daylight to filter through while significantly reducing direct solar gain.

The design prioritized a consistent façade appearance. The blinds were custom-made to fit the façade grid and matched in color to integrate with the architecture. Effective project management was essential for success, ensuring that tight timelines were met, contractors were coordinated, and logistics were meticulously handled on the large construction site.
