More about this product

Flannery produces aluminum trim solutions designed to integrate with a range of wall panel systems, including millwork and wood paneling. Wood Panel Trims from Flannery were used in the Alaska Airlines Center, a large-scale sports and events facility located in Anchorage, Alaska.

The Alaska Airlines Center serves as the home for the University of Alaska Anchorage’s sports teams and functions as a multipurpose venue for concerts and community events. With a total investment of $109 million, the center includes a 5,000-seat athletic arena, indoor jogging track, a gymnastics training facility, competition gym, and a medicine suite. A strength and conditioning center for athletes is also part of the facility. The project was made possible through a collaboration between Alaska Airlines and the university, which included funding support and the creation of scholarships for student-athletes. The venue not only enhances the university’s athletic infrastructure but also operates as a central hub for the local community.

The millwork contractor, J.R. Heritage, approached Flannery with specific requirements for trim profiles compatible with thicker-than-standard millwork panels. In response, Flannery modified its Wood Panel Trims to suit the project’s specifications and supplied the trims in extended lengths (12 to 13 feet) to minimize visible joints along the tall interior walls of the arena. In total, the project incorporated 6,700 linear feet of Wood Panel Reveal (WPR), 6,500 linear feet of Wood Panel J-Mold (WPJ), and 3 linear feet of Wood Panel Outside Corners (WPOC). These trims are featured in key areas such as the stadium’s box office and the walls surrounding the gymnasium. A clear anodized finish was selected for the trims, complementing the light wood panels and emphasizing the architectural rhythm of the interior design.
