Flannery Flannery manufactures a variety of aluminum trim products for use with exterior panel systems, including fiber cement panels and composite siding materials. The Composite Siding Trims collection offers versatile profiles designed to support siding installations across a range of panel thicknesses, from 5/16” cement panels to 1-1/4” composite cladding. This line includes horizontal and vertical reveals, corner trims, and aluminum furring strips, many of which are available with a factory-primed finish.
Key Products and Features
Siding J-Mold
A termination trim designed for transitions between siding and dissimilar materials. Its extended leg accommodates potential horizontal expansion or contraction of the siding.
• Siding H-Mold
Creates a 1-inch flat-face reveal between two adjoining panels. Useful for installations requiring relief for siding movement due to thermal expansion.
• Siding Outside Corner
Forms a defined outside corner where two walls meet at a 90° angle, contributing to a clean and sharp edge.
• Siding X-Mold
Used at 90° outside corner joints, this profile introduces a reveal while maintaining the corner detail.
• Siding Inside Corner Reveal
Establishes a clean internal corner at 90° junctions, ensuring a crisp visual break between panels.
• Furring Strip
Designed to create a ventilated gap between siding and substrate, allowing air circulation. Manufactured from aluminum, these strips resist deterioration over time.
• Z-Fur Strip
An extruded aluminum profile similar in function to the standard furring strip, promoting airflow behind panel systems. Structural guidance is recommended when incorporating into rain-screen designs.
Material and Finish Options
All trims in the Composite Siding collection are manufactured using extruded aluminum alloy 6063 T5, with a nominal wall thickness of .050”. Standard lengths are 10 feet. The trims come in a Clear Anodized Finish, with alternative options including Mill Finish (for site-specific priming and painting), Chem-film finish, and custom finishes upon request.
Installation Guidelines
Siding trims should be installed according to the specific requirements set by the siding manufacturer. Proper orientation and detailing are essential to ensure moisture management and system longevity.
Vertical Installation
A weather-resistant barrier must be installed behind all moldings with a minimum 6” shiplap. Trims should be attached to framing at 16” on center using approved fasteners. All butt joints must be precisely cut and sealed.
Horizontal Installation
Requires a weather-resistant barrier with a minimum 2” shiplap. Flashing tape may be used above horizontal trims to allow water to escape. Trims should be secured at 16” or 24” on center. Butt joints must be accurately cut and sealed.
