DeepLumen, a product solution from ASB was the first installation of its kind. Designed by the artist Marc Gumpinger and entrepreneur Christof Babinsky; the intention was to use LED screens as a way to empower different spaces by displaying immersive artwork rather than the usual use of screens for advertising.
User Experience
The reflective glass walls harness the imagery of the illuminated surfaces creating a variety of abstract virtual environments. When inside the cube, the person is fully immersed in the environment while passers-by outside of the cube can see into the cubes and the people exploring it. The artwork is created with the use of algorithms providing visual, moving content.
Cube Construction
The installation is made from specialty glass on all walls and the floor. The ceiling and three sides are reflective while the floor and one side are translucent. Over 800,000 LEDs are installed behind opaque on translucent pieces creating a natural-looking screen rather than an LED wall installation.
