Illuminated Wall Covering in Sziget Közért | Viaplant

Viaplant is a plant-based creative material made for architecture and design. Created by Leptek-Terv, a landscape architecture studio, it started as a form of artistic expression of the landscaping experience, using only plant components with a renewable cycle of one year or less. The company sources and manufactures all its products locally at its headquarters in Hungary.

In Sziget Közért (Lipót, Hungary), a dairy chain store called “The Island” opened in 2019. It sells bread and its own branded dairy products as well as other products from local producers. Viaplant was assigned the task of developing a unique interior surface in the retail environment for daily use. The illuminated wall covering is made of poa (grass) and was paired with a resistant, water-clear binder, providing a lightweight, durable, scratch-resistant wall cover.
