Architectural Lighting in V Restaurant | Lutron

Working in collaboration with the Lutron team, along with Jeremy Ames and Brandon Melton of RL Studio, Ben Calleja, founder of Livit Design and head of the Experience Office, created Restaurant V, where menu, décor, and ambiance will be continually updated.

Calleja relied on the Lutron team to design a lighting control solution that not only works for this space but can be easily replicated in his future projects while ensuring that each one remains unique and memorable.

Preset lighting scenes are set via the app, giving Calleja full lighting control wherever and whenever he needs it. Each lighting scene is activated automatically, at just the right moment, with slow fades between each scene change so customers are surrounded by exactly the right light when the mood changes from lunch to dinner. He especially appreciates that the lighting environment can be tailored perfectly to a client's profile.

Creating the Right Light

Lutron's Vive Wireless system is flexible and easily integrates with Livi's patented AI technology; Lutron helped customize a lighting control design that was up to every challenge.

The Vive solution works seamlessly in retrofits using existing wiring, working around original and iconic design features. Wireless control offers the perfect combination of flexibility, easy programming, reduced wiring - a big plus in this space - and the ability to expand as the restaurant evolves.

Limitless Lightning Control

V DTLA is an oasis of sorts, with bold, vivid colors, lush fabrics, and comfortable furniture that offers patrons plenty of options for escaping from the outside world. It feels personal, not chain-like – a model that appeals to customers in any location.

Livit Design and RL Studio are now working to incorporate state-of-the-art wireless technologies such as Lutron Athena dynamic controls and Ketra lighting into future V venues.
