Ceramic Textile System - Girasol Building | Flexbrick

The Ceramic Textile System from Flexbrick functions as a flexible construction system that is easily adapted to cover all kinds of architectural surfaces. Fifty years have passed since the construction of the Girasol building, a residential structure. It is considered one of the ten most architecturally representative buildings of the city of Madrid.

The original facades by master of modern architecture José Antonio Coderch were rehabilitated respectfully and ambitiously. The erosion of the mortar due to rainwater reduced the ability of the panels to remain bonded.

Flexbrick has made it possible to successfully rehabilitate this emblematic Coderch building, showcasing the potential of this solution to be applied to many other buildings that have similar problems with their facade cladding. These buildings can be fitted with this system, ensuring greater safety in the case of a detachment of the panelling.
