Cross laminated timber (CLT) is a solid, multi-layered timber construction material. CLT is comprised of wood that is layered and laminated in alternating directions, resulting in a high-strength product.
HASSLACHER group's Excellent Surface CLT significantly reduces the formation of cracks and gaps in the surface lamellas, which makes them much more visually attractive, especially for interior and living areas - an area where conventional CLT made of spruce could cause problems due to cracks. A fully functional and fully integrated production process enables the cost-optimised use of a very broad range of wood species. Therefore a “CLT in miniature” is built up on the surface, consisting of 3 layers: A filler layer of T26 lamellae designed to provide strength and stiffness; an intermediate barrier layer rotated 90°; and a final and visible surface layer glued to the barrier layer, much like a veneer is glued to a fine piece of furniture.
Product Benefits
- Significantly reduced cracks in the surface
- Significantly reduced gaps between the boards
- Broader availability of different wood species such as fir, larch, swiss stone pine, birch, oak, etc.
- No disadvantages in dimensioning of CLT
