More about this product

GLT® (Girder Longitudinally Tensiletested) is a cost-effective alternative to glued laminated timber, solid timber, and finger-jointed structural timber. HASSLACHER group's GLT® has the same load-bearing capacity as glued laminated timber and can therefore be used as a substitute in most types of construction. Each GLT® is individually tensile tested under extreme conditions to create high strength and load-bearing capacity.

GLT® Production Process

HASSLACHER group's GLT® is developed through a series of steps to ensure safe and durable timber constructions.

Step 1 - Quality Grading
Specially selected and certified sawn timber is produced, kiln-dried, and pre-graded by specialists at HASSLACHER group's sawing facilities.

Step 2 - High-tech Strength Grading
The timber is examined through the latest X-ray and laser technology that enables recognition and elimination of strength-related deficiencies in the wood.

Step 3 - Patented Tensile Testing
Usually, the strength of supporting components is only monitored based on random sampling – that is not the case with Hasslacher group's GLT®. Each GLT® beam is subject to a patented tensile proof loading process over the whole length of the beam, ensuring comprehensive quality assurance.

Construction Uses

  • Rafter-supporting purlins in hall construction
  • Rafters and purlins as roof constructions
  • Main beam in floors including in visible areas
  • Highly stressed bending beams
  • Timber Frame studs, trimmers, headers, and soleplates

Product Benefits

  • Volume and cost saving of up to 30%
  • Easy dimensioning
  • Highest levels of safety along finger joints thanks to tensile proof loading
  • High load-bearing capacity with low density
  • Transparent glue lines on finger joints
  • Included in standard design software
  • Available in visible and industrial qualities
