The concept behind the design of RAKU was to follow an authentic Japanese aesthetic. The main goal is to express nature indirectly through the building.
Bamboo Poles, from House of Bamboo were used to create draped ceilings, to form nautral catenary curves. The points of suspension between each curved was 8m apart. Along with the other materials, and use of the natural force of gravity, a unique experience was created at RAKU.

The demand for sustainable, environmentally friendly bamboo poles is growing, making them a popular choice to create features on walls, fences, privacy screens and interesting ceilings or shaded spaces. Keeping true to the beauty and integrity of the natural material, House of Bamboo bind the individual pieces of the material together with stainless steel or UV stable nylon that is concealed in most cases, allowing the material to be showcased.
