Exterior metal coatings are essential in helping to protect buildings from the wear-and-tear caused by outdoor elements, but are often formulated with harmful chemicals. Fluropon Pure from Sherwin-Williams is a flagship 70% PVDF coil and extrusion coating system which combines high-quality protection and sustainability. The material is formulated without the use of PFOA, hexavalent chromium, lead and phthalates, to ensure material transparency for an environmentally friendly coating.
Fluropon Pure complies with red-list requirements, and can help to achieve LEED v4 and Living Building Challenge’s Declare Programs. Similar to the original Fluropon coatings, Fluropon Pure includes energy-efficient cool roof formulations and is ideal for application to exterior metal roofing, facade systems, louvers, and aluminum substrates. Since urban areas tend to be 6-8°F hotter due to the heat island effect, Fluropon Pure is designed with solar-reflective pigments to prevent overheating and deliver structure cooling.
