LVR Verwaltungsgebäude is a six-story administration building located at the port of Cologne/Deutz. The style of the building is industrial charm twinned with coziness and is furnished with solid wood furniture from Zeitraum.
The ground floor, where the café and canteen are located, was designed by UKW Innenarchitekten. On the one hand, the aim was to create a representative character, on the other hand, inviting spaces to linger in. The range of materials, from coarse exposed concrete to natural materials such as oak and natural stone including solid wood chairs and stools, creates a field of tension between industrial charm and homeliness.
The industrial style is shown with visibly laid ventilation pipes and heating/cooling sails and meet the coziness of the fine joinery work, filigree patterns, and silky shining surfaces. Deep dark blue tiles with brown nuances prevent the harshness of black with a gentle imitation of the natural materials of the interior design and Zeitraum furniture emphasize the delicacy of the design.
