Standing 234 meters high with 55 floors, the Leonardo tower in Johannesburg is the tallest building in Africa. Construction of the tower began in 2015 and was finished at the end of 2019 and represents hope for the future for South Africa in difficult times. The Leonardo is located next to the economic, commercial, and leisure hub that surrounds Nelson Mandela Square and the Sandton Convention Centre.

A Sustainable And Energy-Efficient Skyscraper

The multi-use tower was designed by South African firm, Co-Arc International Architects. It houses luxury residential homes including apartments with up to three bedrooms, eight penthouse suites featuring 360-degree panoramic views (the Leonardo Suite measures over 2,800 m2), 15,000 m2 of premium office space, a hotel, shops, restaurants, a spa, a terrace with a swimming pool and a gym.

The Leonardo was created with a clear sustainable approach, evidenced by an ecological construction plan, optimized energy efficiency, and the use of the most advanced technology in building. The façade, lobby, and pillars are clad in Dekton ultra-compact surfaces to help achieve optimized energy efficiency adding up to a total of over 24,350 m2 of Dekton supplied by Cosentino.

Ultra-Compact Cladding On Every Surface

As well as the Dekton surfaces in the lobby and on the façade, the interiors are clad in the functional and elegant Silestone surfaces from Cosentino. The material used in different white and light shades can be seen in kitchen and bathroom worktops, as well as tabletops throughout all 254 apartments. In the restaurants, bars, nursery, and gym, a variety of colors from Silestone’s Eternal series are also featured.
