Viroc is a Cement Bonded Particle Board from Investwood that can be used both inside and out. Viroc panels have a heterogeneous appearance displaying randomly dispersed shades that result from the natural raw materials used.
Flooring
Viroc panels can be used to construct structural floors or lining for floors. The particle board is often used to refurbish floors in old buildings, replacing traditional wooden floors that deteriorate with water in the bathroom and kitchen areas and in zones connected to facade walls. A coating of suitable paint or varnish to make the floors resistant to wear and tear is recommended.
Panel Thickness for Flooring
When designing Viroc flooring, pay attention to the loads that the Viroc panels will be subject to, given that the resistance depends on the thickness of the panel and the gaps between the supporting beams.
Viroc panels can be used to as a lining and finish on top of existing flooring. For structural flooring, a minimum thickness of 19mm is required, as a lining Investwood recommends a minimum thickness of 12mm.
False Ceilings
Viroc panels are great for use in false ceilings both indoors and outdoors, for its aesthetics and durability. When applying false ceilings in any setting, open joints between panels must be provided. It is also suitable for supporting roof coatings, due to its mechanical resistance, insulation index to aerial sounds, thermal resistance and humidity resistance.
Thickness for Ceilings
The minimum thickness of Viroc panels for in indoor ceilings in dry areas is 10 mm and 12 mm in wet areas, whether indoor or outdoor. In damp areas Investwood recommends that paint or varnish is applied.
Lost Formwork
Viroc board preforms excellently as lost formwork due to its strength and durability. To minimize waste, when cutting boards for lost formwork, the board must be cut crosswise along its longest dimension, forming boards with a width of 1250 mm and the intended length.
The width of lost formwork boards is determined by the spacing between beams, whether metallic or reinforced concrete, plus 5 cm on each side, which is the minimum width for support on the beams.
