EnFold Facade Garage Screens: 801 Olive | BŌK Modern

801 S. Olive Street, a new residential tower in Downtown Los Angeles, is a 33-story building purchased by the San Francisco-based real estate firm Carmel Partners. Featuring 363 residential units and 10,000 square feet of ground-level commercial space, the above-grade 4-level parking garage sits below the fifth-floor deck and amenity decks.

EnFold Façade, a sub-division of BŌK Modern was brought on by the design architect Solomon Cordwell Buenz to screen the garage and solve complex installation requirements with pre-engineered, structure-relieving panels with a future-forward design for the heart of this urban epicenter. The parking garage screens have a tilt-out at both the top and bottom from diagonal slots across the face of the building. This was achieved by attaching panels to customized vertical fins that were attached directly to the edge of slabs.

With a customized panel design system specific to this field condition, EnFold Façade’s panels resulted in having the lowest structural and engineering support, resulting in being a highly affordable verification eligibility option compared to competitors. The EnFold team overcame installing over complex, compounding angles and used the panels’ unique angularity as an advantage to elevate the garage with a modern design using perforated screens. The custom pattern, selected by Solomon Cordwell Buenz, offers air flow and openness at the base of the residential tower through a visually-striking, perforated gradient with a Kynar finish.
